Looking for an alternative yet easily accessible beach to spend our weekends with our friends. We spend one weekend at San Narciso, Zambales. It is one of those places popular for photographers, campers, and surfer yet not so familiar with tourists, particularly Crystal Beach Resort.
Crystal beach is one of the nearest beaches after Olongapo where one can enjoy the waves. The surf here breaks on left and right, I’m no surfer dude, but they say the surf here is suitable for beginners, although it can be real fun for all skill levels. As most of the Philippines, the surf in Zambales is quite inconsistent, the best time for surfing is from May to November.
After having lunch at Meat Plus! in Subic, we head up north to San Narciso, its about an hour drive from Subic if I remembered correctly. We arrived around 3PM and waited for a few minutes to get our room ready. As soon as we settled, I immediately head down to the beach.
At the long stretch of fine dark gray beach, the surfers are lining up for the waves, while we just relax, took pictures and watch the majestic sunset, setting directly in front of us.
Aside from surfing, there are several activities such as obstacle course, basketball, volleyball, billiards, table tennis and several tours. You may bring your own tent and camp out in the sand for a minimal fee.
It was already dark when we get back in our room from the beach, and its really dark as there was a brown out, some of us head to town buy dinner because we can’t really eat in the dark at their restaurant. Fortunately, the electricity was back before dinner.
The next day, woke up early and head down to Anawangin and Capones Island.
For commuters, you may take Victory liner at Pasay, Cubao or Caloocan Terminal, destination is San Narciso, Zambales.
