22 Sep 2007Lago De Oro or literally translated as Golden Lake (courtesy of babelfish), is a beach resort about 2hours away from manila, along the Calatagan Peninsula in Batangas. It is most famous for its wake boarding complex similar to CamSur, and its dark sand beach. Lago de Oro Beach Resort also offers a relaxation and water skiing promo packages.
It was my second time to visit the place, we’re on our way to Golden Sunset Resort which is also in Calatagan, I thought it would be a great to stop by in Lago de Oro since it was on same area. The first was an ocular inspection for team last year, I was tasked to go to different resorts in Batangas for two days!. On both occasions, I didn’t have a chance to stay and only able to stop by for a couple of minutes. However, I was able to snap a couple of pictures, and I thought it will be a good idea to share you – our readers.
It was low tide on my first trip on the resort, thus the water recedes quite far off and uncovers a vast stretch of dark sand farther than your eye can see. This is not favorable for swimming but you will discover a lot of marine life that collects in the shallow pools. These includes a lot of starfish, striped multicolored worms, sea cucumbers, and hermit crabs.

There are a couple of floating nipa huts where guests can spend their afternoon looking at the great view of the sea or the sea side facade of the resort from afar, and watch for the sunset and capture your perfect picture.

The resort offers a total of 26 rooms housed in two two-storey Mediterrenean-style buildings, with a view of the sea from the terrace. The amenities include a bar, a restaurant, a pool table and two swimming pools shaded by palm trees – a great offering if guests want to swim under the sun or during low tides at the sea.
For guests that want to escape their busy and stressful city lives, the resort also offer Spa services. Guests can choose from 4 different types of massage – 4 hands, thai, shiatsu/swedish and their signature massage.

And last but not the least, the resorts water skiing complex. This is similar to CWC’s wake boarding complex but is closer to Manila. They offer a promo for water skiing guests which includes an overnight stay, 3 rice topping meals, and a whole day water skiing ticket per person. This is one of the things I would like to try in the future.

Hi Elmer, I’m sorry if I have offended you.
If I’m Lago de Oro’s staff, yes I agree with you, it’s quite wrong, but I’m not. You see, this is a personal blog, even if we could, its better to ask the establishment/resort featured here directly. We just write our experiences with the places we’ve been, positive or not.
Its ok to ask questions and we encourage it, but I’m not in the authority to answer hers, and we get a lot of that kind of question around here. Its borderline demanding if you ask me.
I hope that’s fair enough.

Hi! My friend and I are planning to try wakeboarding this april in Lago. since you’ve said that the beach there is not quite favorable for swimming, would you recommend any place near Lago where we can swim/snorkel?
Thank you so much!!!

Hi Karen, as far as I know, there’s no decent beach to swim in Calatagan. But an hour drive away is Nasugbu and Matabungkay, famous for its marine eco-system these places are one of the favorite dive spots in the country.

Why are all these people inquiring about rates, amenities, etc. when this is obviously a personal blog. If you just need rates, features, etc. don’t expect the blogger to be your personal secretary and answer all your 1001 queries.
It’s a goog thing we find testimonials from people in the Net like this one so we can have an idea if a resort is worth our money. Blogs feature experiences. Go to that place’s website for — that should be the instinct. We’re in the Google age now, so i-google mo.
