Bato Springs Resort Revisited

Man made falls
We’re able to go back to Bato Springs last weekend, together with our high-school friends and took a dip in their cold water springs. The experience was different in a number of ways, but the place looks just the same as the last time we were there, and we had a great time with our friends just like before.

This summer has set record highs in temperature and it is a common sight to see multitudes of crowd in resorts and beaches. That and maybe an increased internet exposure, attributed to our previous feature years back, along with other blogs have made Bato Springs quite popular in its area.

When we first visited the place, I think we’re the only group who stayed in the resort overnight, a stark contrast compared last weekend where all rooms are fully booked and some even spent the night in tents and their cars. I thought the place has lost its exclusivity, but that doesn’t hold us for having a great weekend.

Ms. Elaine and Ms. Babes have been very warm in accommodating us, and we haven’t had any trouble checking in our designated room. Which is located nearby the room where we first stayed. As before, we had fun time grilling our food, eating and drinking, while we rented a videoke machine which our friends enjoyed, it also drown out the noise from the other guests.

They have a new larger pool on the lower part of the resort which complemented the first 3 pools that they have. For those who don’t know, those are actually man made pools but the cold water is flowing from the mountain.

For this part, I’d like to give prospective guests these tips, so you can prepare and have more fun in your trip.

  • Book early as soon as you planned to go to the resort, don’t just go there and assume that you’ll have a room, more importantly if you’re going with a group that is more than 4.
  • Take care of your belongings, don’t just assume that the resort staff can guard your belongings all the time. There are a lot of other guests which can be easily tempted, especially when you leave a pile of those expensive flip-flops unguarded. Better if you bring a spare cheap pair you can use while swimming.
  • Bring your own food, have a list of grocery items as well as utensils. There are no restaurants in the resort as far as I know, and you can’t find one around the area. There are grills available for each room and picnic table, where you can cook or re-heat your food. Better if you can bring a portable stove to make cooking a bit faster.
  • If you’re coming from Manila and planning to stay overnight, better to leave around noon time, as their check-in time is 5PM.
  • Just have a great time, and don’t expect too much, the main feature of bato springs is its clear spring water, cool temperature due to the shade of tall trees in the area. It’s not a 5-star resort where you have room service on-demand, but the fees are priced appropriately.
