A sweet treat of Puerto Princesa

In: Palawan

2 Oct 2008

Sabang Beach A special surprise travel for us since it was my parents’ Silver Wedding Anniversary. A blend of excitement and queasy feelings for a sweet-trip-treat for my family. Another gainsay to a sweet dad who has a colleague in Puerto Princesa to help him do all the preparations for the trip. Ecstatic. Off we go to Puerto Princesa!

We stayed in Puerto Pension Bed and Breakfast Inn located along Malvar St in Puerto Princesa. What’s nice about this Pension house is its great location. Settled in the heart of the City, my parents were delighted in going back and forth to the City Market to the Pension house. My parents also loved the nearby river park/bay where they trotted in the morning as if they were local residents. What is more, for a free breakfast, free airport transfers and a good deal of discount for the duration of our stay. I just love being near the city market for cashew nuts (roasted, fried, cashew brittle).

Upon arrival at the airport, our tour guide Kuya Pepito greeted us with a big smile, he brought us to Badjao Seafront restaurant for our lunch, and then brought us to Honda Bay for island hopping. On the second day and third day, another tour guide Kuya Danny brought us around Puerto Pricesa. We’re blessed to meet him as he was very helpful and courteous, he’s the kind of guy that will show you the best places to buy from and just won’t allow us to not get the best out of our trip.

Sharing with you our itinerary and food explorations:

First Day: Badjao Seafront Restaurant , Honda Bay & Kinabuchs

Second Day: Underground River and Tribal Restaurant at Sabang Beach

Third Day: Puerto Princesa City Tour and Haim’s Chicken Inato

Hi Tin! The expenses vary depending on the number of persons joining the trip, hotel accommodation & whether you’ll travel during peak & lean season, oh! not to mention if there’s an on going promo of airfare that equates to huge discount. :) As per our expenses, let’s just say that we spend roughly Php5,000-Php6,000 a day (you may check my post of the price of van rental & minimal entrance fees we have paid) since we did not avail of any travel agency packages. I apologize If I could not give you a rough estimate of the entire cost we spent. If you are currently planning it, I suggest you list down the places you wanted to visit & call Kuya Danny at (0910-6661767) you may ask him to help you out scout for nice & pocket friendly accommodation and rent him out to be your tour/guide driver.

God is Great!

God bless,

Edz

Can you tell me some more options for eating places please.
I have been to Ka Lui and Badjao Seafront and aside from these places, what else can I recommend to my friends?
Thank you.

Hello! I just read your wonderful blog entries about Puerto Princesa. And I myself got more excited for my trip there this October. Your recommendations of where to go and places to dine-in are very much helpful..as it will be my first time there. I have booked my accomodations in Puerto Pension a few months ago, as I fell in-love with the look of their place. However, I wasn’t able to ask them. this.. Would you happen to know if there’s a near-by beach from Puerto Pension? If so, how long through Tricycle, or through walking (if possible?) =)….Thank You so much! Hope to hear from you soon! God speed! =)

Hi Chared,
Thank you for visiting our blog & finding it useful.
Yes there are minimal entrance fees during the city tour, if you’re with kids they have a student discount in the Butterfly garden. Entrance fees are like Php 10 and up but not exceeding Php 50 each.

Thanks & God bless your preps! :)

Hi Mai,

Thanks for your sweet message. I’m glad that you found our blog as a reference to your trip. I regret to inform you that there are no nearby beach from Puerto Pension. Sabang beach is way far from the city, but you can refer to what we did after exploring the Underground river, we spent few hours in Sabang.

Thanks & God bless your trip!

Thanks too! May I ask one more thing though? What can we do for our first day there? I’ve planned to set aside day 2 & 3 for the underground river and honda bay island hopping. =)

hi.. my fiance and i are planning to have a beach wedding in puerto princesa… approx date would be 2nd week of december 2010…do you know someone who can coordinate with us? we will be having 25 guests.. so we need a hotel to stay in for 3 days and 2 nights,,, the first day would be just a lunch or dinner in ka lui .. and any added tour you can give us… the second day would be a simple beach wedding ceremony (catholic) of course by the beach… just a simple ceremony will do… a sunset event perhaps… then a dinner to the badjao seafront resto for our reception… is that possible?? and the remaining day would be a tour to the underground river, butterfly garden and crocodile farm…
