Cebu: “Queen City of the South” travel guide, tips and itinerary

Cebu is one of those places in the Philippines where one can experience different enjoyment possibilities, that one will have a hard time to prepare an itinerary. We sure did find it very difficult as we would like to experience as much of Cebu as we can given the limited time that we have, and on a budget. In this post, we will share with you our travel itinerary together with costs to help you plan your trip to Cebu. We stayed and travel to different places in Cebu for 4 days and 3 nights

We booked our flight to Cebu four months earlier for our anniversary. I was opposing at first since out travel expenses are getting significant, but its our anniversary, and we got an iresistable  price of 1,500php for a round-trip plane tickets from Cebu Pacific so I eventually agreed.

Day 1 – Cebu City Tour

We booked the 2nd flight which is scheduled to depart from Manila at 8:35am, looking back, it would be better if we booked the first flight which would extend our stay by around 4 hours. Upon departure, and after claiming our baggage, we walk towards the departure area and took a plight of stairs and there is a queue of metered taxi waiting. We head straight to our reservation at Roseate Pensione located along Jones Avenue near Fuente Osmena Circle.  We spend the rest of our day going around the city. We spent approximately 2,800php for the first day, and that’s for the two of us already.

08:30 Departure - 200php terminal fee
09:30 Arrival at Mactan International airport ~150php Taxi to Cebu City
10:30 Check-in to Roseate Pension House, Cebu – 880php for a double deluxe room with panoramic view
12:00 Abuhan Dos Restaurant Lunch ~ 500php
13:30 Magellan’s Cross –  50php taxi from Abuhan
14:30 Fort San Pedro ~ 30php entrance fee each
15:30 Cathedral ~ 50php taxi cab
16:00 Cebu Provincial Capitol
16:30 Taoist Temple
17:30 TOPS – 700php taxi rental from Cebu City to TOPS and back
19:30 Dinner at Casa Verde in Cebu City ~ 500php

Day 2 – Bantayan Island

Its the day of our anniversary, we had to wake up very early to catch the first bus going to Hagnaya Port and maximize our stay in Bantayan Island. For the second day, we spent approximately around 3,400php

06:00 Depart to Bus Terminal ~100php taxi fare
06:30 Bus depart to Hagnaya Port – 80php fare each
09:30 Roro to Santa Fe, Bantayan – 120php each
11:30 Check-in to Kota Beach Resort – 2,000php beach front suite

20:00 Dinner at D’Jungle Mongolian BBQ, grill and resto ~ 300php

Day 3 – Virgin Island, Bantayan Market, Cebu City

Our schedule is packed since we have to board the Roro back to Hagnaya Port by 12nn the next boat will be at 4pm. Total spent for the day is 4,400php

07:00 Boat ride to Virgin Island – 800php
08:00 Virgin Island - 150php each for entrance
09:00 Boat ride back to Kota Beach

13:30 Bus depart to Cebu City – 80php each for bus fare
17:30 SM City Cebu, CNT Lechon infront of SM – 160php
19:30 Check-in to Casa Escano - 1900php for deluxe room
23:00 Late Dinner at Da Vinci’s Pizza - 300php

Day 4 – Mactan Island Tour

We spent the last day on a relaxed mood since Casa Escano offers a very homely feel, we left just before lunch and decided to hire Kuya Macky so we can leave our luggage at his cab and don’t have to carry those around. Our last day cost us around 2,000php.

12:00 Dried Mango Factory – 400php
13:30 Lunch at Sutukil – 400php
14:00 Lapu-lapu Shrine
14:30 Shangri-la Mactan
16:30 Plantation Bay Resort - 500php for halo-halo and fresh fruit shakes
07:00 Departure for Manila – 700php for taxi rental

All in all, our trip to Cebu was very memorable for us, it was the first time for us to travel alone, we’ve been to a lot of places, enjoyed romantic and beautiful sights, historic places, high class resorts, and an assortment of good food. All in all we only spent around 15,000php all in including air-fare and that’s for both of us already.
