It was always difficult to think of a place to spend a weekend nearby Manila. Traveling by land, there’s only a handful of places to visit without driving more than 3 hours, and since there’s only a handful, most of us already been there. This weekend, we spent an overnight trip to Montemar Beach Club in Bagac, Bataan. It’s 200KM away from Manila, and exactly 3 hours away by car.
Montemar Beach Resort is a 12 hectare, private resort and by private I mean very private, they own the whole cove, end-to-end. The beach is lined with fine medium to dark gray sand. You can comfortably walk by the beach, and head to the sea, it’s not good for swimming though unless you’re really good at it. Read the rest of this entry »

Kota Beach Resort Bantayan is where we stayed on our anniversary, reading through different kota beach resort reviews made me decide to book a beach front room. Since we were traveling on a budget, we opted not to stay in Sta.Fe Beach Club which is the most high end resort in ogtong beach. For less than 2000 pesos a night we already have a beachfront air-conditioned room.

Bantayan Island Cebu is got to be one of the top island destinations I’ve ever been, it just have a different feel to it. The number of bantayan island beach resorts, great white sand beach, Bantayan resorts offer reasonable rates and the people there are very nice. It’s a smallish island north of Cebu City, it has three municipalities all have great sights I heard, and the entry point is in Santa Fe.

24 Feb 2009On our first day in Cebu, we go around places where most tourist visits. Upon arrival to Cebu City, we checked-in our baggage at Roseate Pension House and take a short rest, unpack our things and took our lunch at Abuhan Dos.
Cebu is one of those places in the Philippines where one can experience different enjoyment possibilities, that one will have a hard time to prepare an itinerary. We sure did find it very difficult as we would like to experience as much of Cebu as we can given the limited time that we have, and on a budget. In this post, we will share with you our travel itinerary together with costs to help you plan your trip to Cebu. We stayed and travel to different places in Cebu for 4 days and 3 nights
We booked our flight to Cebu four months earlier for our anniversary. I was opposing at first since out travel expenses are getting significant, but its our anniversary, and we got an iresistable price of 1,500php for a round-trip plane tickets from Cebu Pacific, with such cheap airfare to cebu, I eventually agreed.

After our memorable trip in Bantayan, we were perfectly welcomed with a sweet smile from Mr. Tom Escano, owner of Casa Escaño Bed and Breakfast. It is situated in a strategic famous Juana Osmeña street, indeed a home sweet home in Cebu. Casa Escaño is filled with so much fun memories, from the noticeable comfort and lively spirit of guests having fun with friends. We felt the sweet ambiance of being at home, with its 11 lovely rooms you too will absolutely have a wonderful and relaxing vacation in Cebu.

8 Jan 2009Aside from visiting the Underground River, enjoying the clear waters of Honda Bay and eating tamilok. Here are my vote to the another 7 things to do in Puerto Princesa.
1. Arrange for a Puerto Princesa City Tour and visit the Cathedral and Plaza Cuartel where you discover interesting history of the city and feel the warmth of smiles of everyone. There is no entrance fee.
2. Take some pictures in the Crocodile Farm and join the orientation and learn a lot about this large aquatic reptile.
3. Enjoy the scenic view at Mitra’s house -Sta. Monica Ranch when you can see Honda Bay atop of the ranch and Butterfly garden.
4. Eat in Haim’s Chicken Inato if you would bring some drinks they would ask you to pay for a corkage.
5. Grab some freshly baked hopia in ube or piña at Baker’s hill.
6. Drop in the Pasalubong Market and buy some roasted or fried cashew nuts, Puerto Princesa t-shirts.
7. Shop in the city market to pick up friendly-packed fresh fish and crabs that’s packed before your eyes for your loved-ones back home.

Witness beauty blossom in the east with the opening of the new Eastwood Mall. A new jewel to Eastwood’s Grounds. It features two distinct sections, the Central Park – a wide open area with botanical garden and lagoon, and the Main Mall section – a fine collection of upscale brands, a huge Atrium, a row of al fresco restaurants and more.
Our second day itinerary is to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site-Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, also known as the Underground River. We are six in the family and for this special tour, my dad rented a guide going to Sabang for Php 3,500 which includes hotel pick up and the land travel to and from Sabang beach. After spending a limited time during our Honda Bay trip, we rested in the hotel for few minutes then decided to have dinner at Kanila Butch or Kinabuchs. Kinabuchs is one of the sought after restaurants in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. Serving mainly Filipino Cuisines from Sisig to Laing. If you’re traveling with a foreigner or a balikbayan and you want to satisfy your craving for a Filipino fare then dining in Kinabuchs is a treat. Read the rest of this entry »
