It was always difficult to think of a place to spend a weekend nearby Manila. Traveling by land, there’s only a handful of places to visit without driving more than 3 hours, and since there’s only a handful, most of us already been there. This weekend, we spent an overnight trip to Montemar Beach Club in Bagac, Bataan. It’s 200KM away from Manila, and exactly 3 hours away by car.
Montemar Beach Resort is a 12 hectare, private resort and by private I mean very private, they own the whole cove, end-to-end. The beach is lined with fine medium to dark gray sand. You can comfortably walk by the beach, and head to the sea, it’s not good for swimming though unless you’re really good at it. Read the rest of this entry »

Witness beauty blossom in the east with the opening of the new Eastwood Mall. A new jewel to Eastwood’s Grounds. It features two distinct sections, the Central Park – a wide open area with botanical garden and lagoon, and the Main Mall section – a fine collection of upscale brands, a huge Atrium, a row of al fresco restaurants and more.

After spending a limited time during our Honda Bay trip, we rested in the hotel for few minutes then decided to have dinner at Kanila Butch or Kinabuchs. Kinabuchs is one of the sought after restaurants in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. Serving mainly Filipino Cuisines from Sisig to Laing. If you’re traveling with a foreigner or a balikbayan and you want to satisfy your craving for a Filipino fare then dining in Kinabuchs is a treat. Read the rest of this entry »

Badjao Seafront Restaurant a popular place to dine in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. In our stay in Palawan we all agreed that it was the best dining experience we had during the trip. After checking-in and a brief freshening, we were all hungry but no idea where to have our lunch. Our guide, Kuya Pepito was already waiting for us and highly recommended Badjao, true enough – we were not disappointed! Read the rest of this entry »

Looking for a reasonable, accessible and a nice place to stay in Puerto Princesa can be a challenging task for first time travelers. If you scour around the web for recommendations, reviews and experiences, you would find several accommodations with competitive price, there’s Lola Itang, Balay Inato and Liberty Park Pension. Or you may want to stay in hotels like Hotel Fleuris, Asturias or Legend Hotel. We stayed in Puerto Pension Bed and Breakfast Inn. It is located along Malvar St in Puerto Princesa, 3-minute walk away from the market and about 15minutes travel from the airport. It advertises itself as being recommended in the Lonely Planet guide book. Read the rest of this entry »

A special surprise travel for us since it was my parents’ Silver Wedding Anniversary. A blend of excitement and queasy feelings for a sweet-trip-treat for my family. Another gainsay to a sweet dad who has a colleague in Puerto Princesa to help him do all the preparations for the trip. Ecstatic. Off we go to Puerto Princesa! Read the rest of this entry »
